Taxonomy

The male lectotype of Oligostigma falcatalis Snellen, [1901] 1900: 287 from Java, Bogor (Buitenzorg) is in Leiden. Lectotype selected by Munroe et al. (1958: 74). Once considered a junior subjective syn. of E. ceratucha (Meyrick, 1894a) but Jaenicke & Mey (2011) re-established it as a good sp. in Eoophyla.

Description

Typical Eoophyla patterning in brown white and yellow. Jaenicke & Mey (2011) give a full description of male and female including illustrations of genitalia (pp. 40-42, pl. 17 figs 1-8, pl. 24 figs 1-2 & pl. 23 figs 7-8). It is very similar to E. profalcatalis Jaenicke & Mey 2011 from Sumatra. However the original habitus illustrations of E. falcatalis & E. profalcatalis (Jaenicke & Mey 2011, pl. 10 figs 1-4) are confused. See other spp. in the E. ceratucha group.
