Taxonomy

Coptobasis sp. 2. An unnamed morphotype from Borneo and Peninsular Malaysia seen in most collections. Generic placement uncertain.

Description

The elongate abdomen and very long pointed FW make this sp. unmistakeable. The wings are without obvious markings, a nacreous pink-brown with a narrow darker brown costa on the FW. This fades to a shiny golden colour. There is a indistinct pale stigma at the proximal end of the FW cell. The frons is buff and the pectoral collar is the same colour on the UnS. The rest of the body is pink-brown paler on the underside with a darker abdominal tip The simple antennae are set close together and project forward. The flagellum is filliform. Schulze (2000) taxon #298. This may be the male of Coptobasis sp. 1.
