Taxonomy
The male holotype of Clupeosoma microthyrale Munroe, 1977: 1346 is from Sabah, Mt. Kinabalu NP, Park H.Q. It is in the Canadian National Insect Collection, Ottawa.
Clupeosoma Snellen 1880: 203, exhibits sexual dimorphism with smaller males often with large tufts of hair scales on the FW.
Description
The male is a dull purplish sp. with virtually no fasciation on the FW. A dark patch of scent scales in the FW cell is the only distinctive wing marking. The termenae of both wings is a dull orange with dark neural spots. The HW has a coarsly dentate darker post median line with a narrow dull orange band proximally. The body is brownish purple with pale intersegmental abdominal bands. No females recognised.
