Taxonomy
Authaeretis sp. 3, a series in the Schulze Coll. nr. A. eridora Meyrick 1886a: 252. They may be conspecific with Authaeretis sp. 3.
The genus Authaeretis may be closely related to Coptobasis & this confused relationship should be investigated further.
Description
A silky, golden brown, sometimes greyish brown morphosp. with purple iridescence. It is spotted with white. The FW has a white lunule and a slightly serrate white patch on a pale post median fascia. Other small white spots are present medially. The HW has an indistinct pale, post median fascia. Note that the male lacks the large complex palpi present in A. eridora but has highly modified bases to the filiform antennae. It is similar but smaller than Authaeretis sp. 4.
