Taxonomy
Trichophysetis sp. 8 is an unnamed morphotype from Sabah (PHS) in the Schulze Coll.
Generic placement uncertain.
Several specimens of these small black and white morphotypes have been seen from parts of SE Asia. Here they are informally grouped into the ‘Black & white Trichophysetis’ group.
Description
A sp. with diffuse patches of black scales on a white back ground. The FW has a black spot in the cell and three small neural spots at near the apical margin. The black scales form a distinct narrow postmedian line. The HW also has three conjoined black marginal spots near its apex and has a diffuse median band. The abdomen is elongate. Schulze (2000) taxon #635, ‘Spilomelini Unknown genus sp 81’ See Trichophysetis spp. 7, 9 & 10 which are similar. but the details of the patterning distinguishes this sp. from them.
