Taxonomy

Trichophysetis sp 10. A morphotype (P43) in the HSB Coll. from an RIS trap in Sabah (BRL).

Generic placement uncertain.

Several specimens of these small black and white morphotypes have been seen from parts of SE Asia. Here they are informally grouped into the ‘Black & white Trichophysetis’ group.

Description

A sp. with large diffuse patches of black scales on a white back ground especially on the HW. The FW has a black spot in the cell and the black scales form a broad diffuse submarginal band. The HW has a large diffuse black marginal patch towards its apex and a broad wavy black post median line. The abdomen is elongate. See Trichophysetis spp. 7, 8 & 9 which are similar. but the details of the patterning distinguishes this sp. from them.
