Taxonomy

Ssp. 1 unnamed is imaged from W. Malaysia, Frazer’s Hill, Jeriau Rd. The lectotype of Striglina mediofascia Swinhoe, 1906:381 from India (Meghalaya, Khasia Hills), is in the NHM (Mi7295), genitalia slide #13511. See Whalley (1976:69, fig’d).

Description

A reddish-brown species with a speckling of small dark spots. The FW has a large dark brown patch which may give the impression of a median fascia. Four sspp. are known; Ssp. mediofascia Swinhoe, 1906, India, indistinctly marked reddish brown. Ms. ssp. diargema Chu & Wang, 1991, S.E. China, Taiwan. It has blotches and a pale background. Ms. ssp. elaphra Chu& Wang, 1991, W. China. Mainly large sized bold blotches on a pale background. Ssp. 1 unnamed in the NHM (Mi7294), W. Malaysia, Sulawesi (similar to ssp. elaphra).

Similar Species

Very similar to cuticula but slightly more distinctly marked, especially the females. Very variable in size which may be partly due to sexual dimorphism.
