Description

A rich red-brown species with the thyridid reticulation picked out in darker brown. There is a diagonal line crossing both wings which runs from the FW costa close to the apex to the inner margin and continues across the HW to the inner margin. The HW has an indistinct line curving across the HW postmedian area towards the tornus. Whalley (1976: 64) gives a key to the sspp. based on the male genitalia. Ssp. irresecta Whalley, 1976, Meghalaya, Myanmar. Sacculus short and rounded with a small apical process. Ssp. obscura Whalley, 1976, Sikkim. Sacculus slender and elongate with a long apical process. A specimen examined, ostensibly from Sarawak, is probably incorrectly labelled.
