Taxonomy

The holotype of Noorda nigropunctalis Hampson, 1899: 222 is from W. Malaysia (Perak). comb. n. to Pseudonoorda Munroe 1974: 31).

Description

The ground colour of the FW is a pale creamy yellow with a paler HW. The FW costal streak is brown with three black spots along its dorsal margin. Both wings have a broad purplish-brown margin which has purplish metallic scales on the wing margin and fringes. The inner margin of these dark areas is markedly jagged with a distinct step towards the rear of the FW. This margin is only on the anterior margin of the HW. N. metalloma (Lower, 1903a: 65-66) from Australasia is similar but has smoother edges to the submarginal band. Normal wingspan 14-17mm but <24 mm.
