Noctuelia sp. 2
- Family: Crambidae
- Subfamily: Odontiinae
- Genus: Noctuelia
- Distribution: Sabah.
- Habitat: Lowland primary forest canopy; 580m.
- Wing Length: 7.5mm
Taxonomy
Noctuelia sp. 2 is a single unnamed, damaged, specimen in the Schulze Coll. from Sabah (PHS). A generic revision of Noctuelia is probably required as members of the N. tapsusalis group are visually very different from this purple-brown and yellow N. dichroalis group.
Description
This morphotype resembles N. dicroalis but is very much smaller. The wing bases are a lightly marbled purple brown and black. The wing margins are mainly yellow. Some of this group of distinctive purple-brown and yellow spp. resemble some Conogethes and arctid spp. and are found over much of tropical Asia. See Noctuelia sp. 1. Schulze (2000) taxon #628
