Taxonomy

The holotype of Niphostola micans Hampson, 1896: 222, fig. 127, is from India, ([Meghalaya] Khasis; Nagas [Naga Hills]). This specimen from Sabah was collected and identified by David Agassiz and is in the ITBC-Borneensis Coll.. It is the TS of Niphostola Hampson, 1896: 222, by original designation and monotypy.

Description

A species with unmarked silvery white FW except for a slight dark tornal line just proximal from the greyish cillia, the unmarked HW is a very pale grey. The HW fringes are long & shining white. The rounded shape of the wings is distinctive but unlike most morphospecies in the genus this one has no wing patterning.
