Taxonomy

The holotype of Parthenodes rectangulalis Kenrick, 1907: 77, pl. 4, fig. 58 from New Guinea (Ekeikei), is in the BMNH.

Description

A mainly white sp. with chestnut brown and dark areas When the moth is at rest the strange chestnut brown linear markings on the FW, when viewed from the front, resembles the legs of a waiting spider. Ambia [Musotima] instrumentalis Swinhoe, 1894 is smaller and has an additional orange fascia across the FW base and very different HW markings.
