Taxonomy
The male holotype of Oligernis endophthalma Meyrick, 1934: 471 from Southeast Borneo [Kalimantan Timur] is in the BMNH.
It is the TS of Oligernis Meyrick 1894. A monospecific genus.
Treated as a junior subjective syn. of Ambia in LepIndex but as good [monospecific] genus in Globiz.
Note Meyrick treated Oligernis in the Hydrocampinae [Acentropinae] but until detailed re-examination of the holotype O. endopthalma is undertaken this is best considered a doubtful genus, although Shaffer considered it a good genus. ms stat. n. (Shaffer 1991, Note on LepIndex card).
Description
The FW, typical of this group of Musotimids. Wings are elongate-triangular; basal area suffused with brown & black; an ochreous-yellow streak from the middle of the costa to towards the discal cell, then angulated back to the costa sub-apically ; a similar ochreous-yellow streak beneath and parallel to this, but more curved, not reaching costa. The HW half white with an angular almost crenulate margin; its base is greyish with blackish scale patches. Radiating out from a white median fascia are three broad ochreous-yellow streaks (apical, central, and anal).The cillia are shining white. The head and thorax are brown and the abdomen is silvery.
