Description
A rich red-brown medium sized species with a coarse thyridid reticulation picked out in orange and greyish. The FW & HW fringe is black. There are two distinctive pale fenestrae in the middle of the FW and a darker antemedian fascia on the HW. The FW has a dark patch in the reniform area. It can be distinguished from M.capillatus Whalley 1976 by the almost complete lack of cilia between the facets of its eyes (RTS: 129). Whalley (1976:186) gives a key for the two species.
