Taxonomy

Irigilla sp. 1. Un-named specimens from Borneo are in the BMNH and MfNH. This is probably Irigilla [Rhodaria nypsiusalis] (Walker, 1859: 924-925).

Description

A distinctive and fairly common sp., attractively patterned in pink and purple with a golden margin and long golden fringes. The FW has a curving serrate submarginal line. The HW is mainly grey with a wedge of pinkish purple extending from the central area to the centre of the termen. The head, thorax and abdomen are purplish with white intersegmental rings on the abdomen. Some Herculia sp. and Endotricha spp. are superficially similar but their wings are totally pink-purple with golden margins.
