Taxonomy
Imaged specimen from W. Malaysia, GTE. The holotype of Banisia ypsilon Warren, 1899b:316 is from the Moluccas (Dammer Is.). comb. n. to Hypolamprus, (Shaffer & Nielsen 1996)
Description
Syn. Rhodoneura kosemponis Strand, 1917:151. The female type is from Taiwan (Kosempo) syn. n. (Shaffer & Nielsen 1996). Syn. Rhodoneura lineata Eeke, 1929: 95 TL Sumatra (syn. n. Shaffer & Nielsen 1996). Syn. Brixia phaula West, 1932: 8 is from Philippines (Luzon). The syntype is in the NHM (Mi7373), syn. n. (Shaffer & Nielsen 1996). Ms. syn. Rhodoneura furcifer Hampson, 1900: 230 TL Sri Lanka (Lepindex). This brown species has distinct lines on a reticulated background. There is a series of small pale spots on the FW costa and a few lines of the reticulation which are a darker brown.
Similar Species
See H. striatalis which is similar but without the lines. There is considerable size variation, the smaller specimens often more closely resemble the syntype H. furcifer Hampson, 1900 and this could be considered as subspecific.
