Taxonomy
The male lectotype of Filodes sexpunctalis Snellen, 1890: 603 chosen by Munroe et al. (1958: 84) is from India (Sikkim). It is in the BMNH.
Description
The abdomen is elongate dorsally bright orange but the intersegmental bands are silvery.
A silver grey sp. with the FW base bright orange. The FW has three black spots and the HW another near the anterior margin.
Similar Species
This sp. is similar to and often confused with F. fulvidorsalis but it has a deeper orange fulvous colour on the wing bases and abdomen. It has three spots at the base of the FW. (F. fulvidorsalis has smaller black spots).The key diference is there is no trace of a diffuse black median line usually seen in the allied spp. and no oblique transverse veinlet between veins 6 & 7 as seen in F. fulvidorsalis. Vein 8 is absent in the male. (Snellen, 1890).
