Taxonomy
The holotype of Sameodes miltochristalis Hampson, 1896 from India (Sikkim) is in the BMNH.

Description
An orange-yellow sp. with a series of elongate purple-brown marks on the veins of the FW proximal to a curving antemedian line and distal to the median area. It has an elongate stigma in the TW cell. The HW has a series of elongate purple-brown marks on the veins of the post median fascia. The sp. is very variable and may have a brown suffusion around the streaks. Wang & Speidel (2000: 106) illustrate var equicalcaralis (Strand, 1918). There are DNA sequences of speciments from Taiwan in the RMNH Leiden BOLD sample ID RMNH #19606 and Bold sample ID RMNH #273069 [as setinalis] (Ratnasingham & Hebert, 2007). Do not confuse with several superficially similar to Arctidae: Arctiinae spp..
