Taxonomy

Sabah, Ulu Dusun. Dysodia sp. 2 is an unnamed series in the NHM (Mi7280) from Borneo. There are two possible subspecies, both unnamed:

  • ssp. 1, from Bhutan, Sikkim, Assam, W. Malaysia.
  • ssp. 2, from Thailand, W. Malaysia.

Description

The pattern on the FW of this richly coloured red and dark purplish-red species is similar to D. laevis and D.raja but the HW is different. Note the large fenestra in the HW and associated small fenestrae towards the termen. A dark red median band traverses the middle of the HW parallel to the margin. A thinner more obscure branch goes from this to the tornus. The dorsal part of the abdomen base is a darker red.
