Taxonomy

The holotype of Sisyrophora pfeifferae Lederer 1863: 399, pl. 13 fig. 13 is from Singapore. comb. n. to Cydalima Lederer 1863. (Mally & Nuss, 2010).

Description

The wings are translucent shining white with a purple-brown shading at the termen where there is a narrow broken metallic line. The broad subcosta of the FW is a dark chocolate brown with two dark spots in the cell. The HW has a small lunate spot in its cell. The abdomen is white scaled as is the thorax which has long tegulae. The head and neck are are dark brown. The males have a conspicuous dark brown hair pencil near the thorax and a tuft of blackish anal hair pencils. The forelegs are brown with white tarsi. The antenna of the male is modified near its base with a short ascending hook bearing a pad of tiny bristles. (RTS: 187).
