Taxonomy
The male holotype of Coptobasis textalis Lederer, 1863: 430, 482 pl. 16, fig. 9, from Amboina is in the B.M.N.H.
- syn. Coptobasis aenealis Swinhoe, 1885: 867. T.L. India, Pune [Poona]; Mumbai [Bombay] (Globiz).
Description
A silky dark brown species with a purplish lustre. The FW has a distinctive broad white looping post-median band which widens to incorporate a coronet at the subcosta. The FW has a an elongate white spot in the cell and there is another small white punctum. More proximally there is a white post basal band. The HW has a similar broad looping median line. Most of these white lines are edged by darker brown. The head ,thorax and abdomen are purplish brown. the latter with white intersegmental bands. The tegulae are long. This sp. is similar to many Authaeretis spp. See Pilocrocis [Authaeretis] coptobasisand is similar to many Coptobasis opisalis group and Pramadea group spp..
