Taxonomy
The holotype of Botys radicalis Walker 1865 [1866]: 1417 from Indonesia (the Molucca Is., Seram) is in the B.M.N.H. Two paratypes from Indonesia (Ceram & New Guinea) are in the Oxford U.M.N.H. Jointly under type #1036, Genitalia #2013-1687. All types were collected by A. R. Wallace.
comb. n. to Coptobasis (Meyrick 1894: 457) who incorrectly reports the TL as Kalimantan Selatan (Pulau Laut).
Description
A coppery brown sp. with a nacreous sheen on the central FW & HW giving cupreous and purple reflections. The wings have no obvious markings. The fringes are darker brown. Underside of thorax and abdomen and legs pale brown. Porrect palpi broad, squamous, silvery white beneath towards the base; third joint conical, not more than one eight of the length of the second. Antennae of the male filiform; first joint complex and swollen. The neck collar (pectus) is silvery white. Abdomen elongate, extending well beyond the hind wings. The apical scale tuft of the male is very small.
