Taxonomy
The holotype of Sylepta [sic] adductalis Walker, 1859d: 669 is from Sri Lanka
- syn. Coptobasis luminalis Lederer, 1863: 483, pl. 16, fig. 10 (Moore 1884-1887 [1886]: 292).
- syn. Coptobasis abductalis Moore 1884-1887 [1886]: 292. Syn. n. misspell.
The holotype is smaller [25mm wingspan] than most specimens in the series at the B.M.N.H. As Syllepte in LepIndex.
We treat it in Coptobasis Lederer 1863d: 429-430 to place it with superficially similar spp. in the Coptobasis opisalis group.
Description
A silky, golden brown sp. with purple iridescence spotted with white. On the FW is a white lunule in the cell a slightly serrate white patch on the indistinct post median fasciaand a tiny white spots ante-medially and post-basally. The HW has a white patch sub-costally on a pale and indistinct post median fascia. The underside is pale. See Authaeretis eridora Meyrick 1886a: 252 which is similar.
