Description

A purplish sp. with a broad, darker, submarginal band on both wings. This band is edged on its basal side by a narrow pale fascia. The margin of both wings is a bright orange with small neural spots. The orange margin is confined to the anterior part of the HW. The body is brownish purple with pale intersegmental bands. Typically this sp. shows a great size variation beyond the normal sexual dimorphism found in Clupeosoma Snellen. All the morphotypes may not be conspecific. See Clupeosoma sp. 1 which may be the male of this sp.. The female Clupeosoma sericialis is very similar but has a less distinctive submarginal band and lacks the pale edge to that band.
