  • Family: Crambidae
  • Subfamily: Spilomelinae
  • Genus: Chrysothyridia
  • Distribution: Sabah, Sarawak.
  • Habitat: Lowland primary and disturbed forest and cultivated areas <630m
  • Wing Length: 14mm

Taxonomy

Chrysothyridia sp. 1; Several unnamed morphotypes in the BMNH & Schulze Coll. with FW wing maculation nr. to C. triangulifera Munroe, 1967.

Description

Note the FW apical costal patch is not regularly triangular and is sub-rectangular not unlike Chrysothyridia invertalis Snellen 1876 [1877b]: 78, pl. 6 fig. 4 where it is rectangular. It is unlike any of the Chrysothyridia specimens illustrated by Munroe: 1106: figs 1 & 2. All specimens have a large white central spot with a bifurcating posterior margin also seen in Chrysothyridia sp. 2. As it does not closely coincide with either C. triangulifera or C. invertalis it may represent an undescribed sp. complex or simply variation. Best investicated by genitalic examination and DNA sequencing. Schulze (2000) Taxon #213b.
