Taxonomy

The female holotype of Crambus suppressalis Walker, 1863a: 166 is from China [Kiangsu], Shanghai, it is in the BMNH.

Description

There is marked sexual dimorphism with males having broader chestnut brown FWs whereas those of the female are longer and narrower, buff coloured and speckled with black scales. In both sexes the FW have black interneural spots on the termen and the unmarked HW is shining white.
