Taxonomy
Chalcidoptera pryeri Hampson, 1898: 665, pl. 50 fig. 1. The holotype from Sabah. (Sandakan) is in the BMNH.
Description
Sexually dimorphic. The red males closely resemble Chalcidoptera emissalis Walker but the wing shapes are different. The association of male and female in many Chalcidoptera spp. needs confirmation.
