Chabula acamasalis Walker

Taxonomy

The holotype of Zebronia acamasalis Walker, 1859: 970-971, is from Hindustan [Pakistan]. It is the T.S. of Chabula Moore 1884-1887 [1886]. Comb. rev. to Chabula (Shaffer et al., 1996).

• syn. Heterocnephes strangulalis Snellen, (1879 [1880]): 224-225 & Snellen, 1884, Pl. 3 fig. 1. T.L. Indonesia, Sulawesi (Maros). (as syn. in Snellen 1890: 616). The male type is lost. The lectotype chosen by Munroe et al. 1958: 85 is the only surviving syntype. It is in RMNH Leiden.

Description

This purple-grey and black and white sp. is readily distinguished from other Chabula spp. by details of its complex patterning, especially on the FW where the post-median white patch extends to the costa and the distal border of the patch is sharply angled. Schulze Taxon #048 ‘Chabula sp. 2’.
