Taxonomy
‘Cataclysta’ sp. 1 is a single specimen from Sabah (PHS) in the Schulze Coll. It resembles Cataclysta angulata Moore, [1886] 1884-7: 300, pl. 181, fig. 12. TL: [Sri Lanka] Ceylon, which is misplaced in Cataclysta which are acentropids. Here it is treated as a musotimid and a member of the ‘C. angulata group’ (Spiedel & Mey 1999, S.-H. Yen in litt.) awaiting allocation to a new genus.
Description
A mainly fulvous and white sp. with distinctive horizontal white streaks on both wings. Near the FW apex is a large triangular white patch extending from the costa and the FW has a series of small marginal neural spots. The HW termen has four or five conjoined dark eyespots delineated by a broad white submarginal band. A similar specimen from The Philippines (Negros, Patag NR) was seen in the MfNH Berlin. Schulze (2000) taxon #017 ‘Acentropinae sp. 1’
