Taxonomy

The holotype of Rhectothyris hyalodiscalis Warren, 1895: 471 is from India (Khasia hills). It is the T.S. of Callibotys (Munroe & Mutuura 1970a: 299).

Crocidophora carapina Strand, 1918: 67 is from Taiwan (Karapin). It was considered a junior subjective syn. of C. hyalodiscalis by Shibuya, (1928: 31). For an illustration see Wang & Spiedel (2000: 272). Here we consider both good spp.

Description

A mainly purplish brown sp. The FW has a large orange-fulvous area on its base. A broad dark purple-brown band starts at the post median costa but becomes narrow by the posterior margin This continues on the HW as a narrow median line . There is a distinctive square white spot in the FW cell. C. carapina is similar but it has a much smaller area of orange on its FW which is replaced on the median subcosta by a bright yellow patch. Not  recorded in Borneo.
