Description
The shape of the brownish wings is fairly distinctive. The FW patterning is simple consisting of darker ante-median and post median lines with a couple of spots at either end of the FW cell. The one in the median position is elongate the othe more proximal is a small punctum. The HW has a post median line which may be looped medially and may have a short median line linking towards it. The colours and patterning of the tip of elongate male abdomen is fairly specific. Yang et al. 2019 (fig. 4) illustrate those of B. ampliatalis, B. binotalis, B. camillusalis, B. cuprealis, and B. illatalis. The male and female genitalia of the above spp. and B. hainanensis Yang et al. (2019, Figs. 5 & 7) are also illustrated they also barcoded eight of the more common Bacotoma spp. Unfortunatel because of the absence of suitable material, their extensive review could not extend to B. poecilura.
