Description

A rich red-brown species with a uniform indistinct fine reticulation and no obvious additional patterning and having no stigmatic pale patches (fenestrae). However a few specimens may have a very slightly darker median fascia on both wings. Many specimens are flushed with a pale pink but some are more yellowish. The stout body is a rich red-brown. White ‘knee pads’ seem to be present on the legs of all specimens. The centre of its range is New Guinea. Although the wings are variable, the genitalia are constant over all its range (Whalley, 1976: 99, 100).

Life History

A pest species recorded as a defoliator of Eucalyptus.
